Last nights event at Fluevog Shoes in Amsterdam was a great success. Meeting founder John Fluevog and listening to his stories was a real honor. Luck, or dogged determination, (or both) stopped him from going under - not once but twice. This is a tale often told by creative entrepreneurs. I for one, am glad that he not only survives, but thrives.
I must say that the shoe designs were amazing. I hadn't really thought about the way we walk and how most shoes fight against our natural way of walking and our posture. But trying on some of these shoes made me really consider that, and how a 'decent' pair of shoes can help.
The official opening in Amsterdam marks a new chapter for this Vancouver based company. Global expansion plans are being developed and keeping an eye on Dutch fashion and design can only inspire them more. I look forward to seeing how a foothold in Europe will affect their collections.
